Thanks to all who participated in TRAP ATTACK!

In November 2011, Paso Pacifico and RuckusRoots teamed up to present Trap Attack, a fundraiser and art party benefiting jaguar conservation efforts in Nicaragua

At this event, participants discovered how scientists use motion and heat-sensitive camera traps to track and study hard-to-see wildlife, like jaguars. Camera trap photos prove these animals exist and therefore provide crucial pieces of evidence in the fight to protect endangered areas of jungle and coastline in Nicaragua. Party goers even got to meet  some of the very special animals we're working to protect, including Central American spider monkeys! To top it off, a motion-sensing camera made its way around the event to "trap" unsuspecting victims. Throughout the evening we were able to capture many moments of surprise, laughter and joy. These photos were then incorporated into the audio/visual performance and projected onto the walls of the gallery. You can find the results in our Trap Attack Candid Photo Series.

Proceeds from this event will be used to benefit Paso Pacifico and RuckusRoots, two Los Angeles-based 501c(3) non profit organizations. Paso Pacifico's mission is to restore and conserve the natural ecosystems of Central America’s Pacific slope. RuckusRoots is dedicated to engaging young adults in the environmental movement through creative expression, and provided interactive art and live music at the event!

The Caravan Project

At Joshua Tree Music Festival 2011, RuckusRoots collaborated with Art Customs and local artists to create The Caravan Project, a live painting installation that explored and questioned the themes of travel, journey, and our pioneering, nomadic American roots. The installation was made out of recycled materials, provided stunning visual impact, thoughtful social commentary and much needed SHADE at this 3-day art and music event

Bike Bash: Earth Week 2011!

An interactive art and biking event that rethinks, rebuilds and re-imagines how you get from point A to point B. At the University of Wisconsin over Earth Week 2011, we turned donated bikes into functional, mobile art pieces and sustainability tools, including a DJ bike that plays music from solar-powered speakers, a pedal-powered charging station for cell phones & laptops and more. This event is an artivism collaboration between RuckusRoots, Art Customs and Scraper Bikes.

TRAshFormation : an interactive, improvisational art experience that turns campus-generated waste, recycling and/or surplus items into a sustainably built, aesthetically stunning and functional sculpture.
